What I have come to realize about G-d

1. G-d supercedes all that there is, all that there was and all that there will ever be.
2. G-d is without an end or a beginning - hence my affinity for the Kabbalistic Ein Sof description of G-d.
3. A true understanding of the working nature of G-d is beyond human understanding.
4. G-d is all powerful.
5. One does not have to ahere to any organized religion to appreciate G-d.
6. There is no counterforce to G-d.
7. If it happens its because G-d wills it so.
8. Science is an instrument of G-d. Attempts to elevate science to a level that transcends G-d is therefore ridiculous.
9. G-d has no Gender.
10. G-d has no Sexual Orientation.
11. Our Souls and Spirit, like everything else, derive from G-d.
12. G-d gave us Free Will.
13. Evil exists as it serves a purpose.
14. G-d challenges us daily.
15. Prayer must come from the heart else it is meaningless.
16. Although we derive from G-d none of us are perfect - this is G-d's will.
17. G-d wants us to question him (gender used for convenience).
18. G-d wants us to reason and think for ourselves.
19. No person is a G-d.
20. No ideal is a G-d.
21. No nation is a G-d.
22. The Evolution of systems is part of G-d's will.
23. G-d is greater than we can ever conceive.
24. Great works of philosophy and the books of organized religion should never be elevated to the same staus as G-d.
25. G-d created time but is not framed by it as we are.
26. G-d can monitor every detail of the universe.
27. G-d has made a choice for many systems to be imperfect.
28. G-d represents a Goodness that we should to emulate.
29. Logic is the software of the universe.
30. The universe could disappear in a blink if G-d deemed it so. It could re-appear in a similar blink if that were G-d's choice.
31. Organized religion has helped in framing our worldview with necessary morals but it has failed in a way by boxing G-d into its own narrow definition.
32. The world has meaning thanks to G-d.

Rocky Bilboa - 6/10. A feel gooder but nothing more.

Pursuit of Happyness - 8.5/10 - Deserving of the Accolades.
Clerks II - 5/10 - Not a patch on the original.
Half-Nelson - 6/10 - Gosling saved the script. Can't see what the hype was though.

Ghost Rider - 7/10 - I wasn't expecting much so this was a pleasant surprise.

Eight Below - 7.5/10 - A pleasant movie that is difficult to fault.
You, Me and Dupree - 6.5/10 - Suprisingly not as poor as some believed it to be.
Little Miss Sunshine - 8.5/10 - Lived up to Expectations.
She's the Man - 7.5/10 - A worthwhile watch.
Thank you for Smoking - 7.5/10 - A rental but noteably well scripted.

One Particle of Originality

Extruded from the groundwater of her mind, wrung dry with the words of conformity, a flicker will survive to toast a fire. Opening innocence to the vestige of new, staidness jousted with originality. Poised to question it creates new answers which by the rolling-ball design of nature that will set firmly in the jungle of the living world.

South Africa mauls England 58-10

It looks great for South African Rugby - First an All-South African Super 14 Final (won by my favourites - The Bulls) and now this victory (although it did occur over a weakened English side). Lets hope that it all translates to meaningful results in the World Rugby Cup in France later this year.
Other results:
Ireland 22 Argentina 20 (A loss but a good result for the South Americans)
Australia 29 Wales 23 (don't write off the Wallabies)

Federer has easy draw in French Open

Good news for Roger (following his victory over Rafael Nadal in Hamburg). I would be overjoyed to see the Swiss Super Star complete a Grand Slam.

Taming a nonsense video clip

The red is my response to a true piece of nonsense that has found its way onto the Internet.
This ridiculous manifestation of non-intelligence can be found at:
http://www.bushflash.com/14.html

My response is in Red.

My REPLY to the Danger Video in RED. All messengers are respected.
1. Powerful and continuing expressions of nationalism.

In the US one can burn an American flag, piss over a picture of Bush in public and criticize the government to your hearts content. There have been many Anti-War displays throughout the country. This was not possible in Nazi Germany. Nor is it a truism of other fascist regimes.

2. Disdain for the importance of human rights.

And Both Abu Gharib and Gitmo have been investigated. Was this ever the case with Dauchau, Bergen-Belsen, Auschwitz? Also comparing suspected terrorists to holocaust victims is pure nonsense. I can’t believe that I am even replying to this, the most blatant of all the hyperbole.

3. Identification of enemies/scapegoats as a unifying cause.

The US chooses terrorists… and justifiably so.The Nazis chose: Jews. Trade Unionists, Jehovah’s Witness, Romany, Communists, Gays and Lesbians and those with physical and mental handicaps etc etc.

More garbage from Mr. Britt.

4. The supremacy of the military/avid militarism.

So the US has a large military…Someone has to defend Western Liberalism… (don’t count on Europe).I have to laugh at how Britt’s work relies on transmission via the Internet, a framework that traces its origin to the military (sorry Al Gore).By the way last time I checked the Nazis did not overthrow any regime to establish a democracy…. As is the case in Iraq and Afghanistan.

5. Rampant sexism.

The author focuses in on a slice of the Bush cabinet (No Condi Rice?mmmmm) and then claims a growing sexism ----this is pure tripe. My Grade 9 students could provide a better analysis.

6. A controlled mass media.

• Yes the media is controlled by the government except for:
NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Boston Globe, NY Times, LA Times, Boston Globe, Much of PBS, NPR, Washington Post, Newsweek, Time Magazine, Atlantic Monthly, Harpers, Mother Jones etc, etc.All of which have been extremely critical of the Bush Administration. Britt exaggerates once more.

7. Obsession with national security.

• Actually a lack of focus on national security is what allowed 911 to occur in the first place…So much for the Clinton legacy.
Even now if you look at the buffoonery of the Bush Administration in preventing illegal immigration from Mexico…you will see that National .Homeland Security is a misnomer. Furthermore the Author's point here is an added insult to all victims of the Gestapo and the SS.

8. Religion and ruling elite tied together.

• The Nazis abhorred organized traditional religion. The only reason that they tolerated the Catholic Church and the various protestant denominations was to avoid or minimize further internal strife in the country.

• This is a typical line that I would expect from a Secular Humanist who conveniently forgets that the religious Left namely The Rainbow Coalition, Christian Peacemakers, Universal Heritage Foundation, Witness for Peace, Pax Christi, Plowshares exist at all. Each of which is no ally of the Bush Administration.

9. Power of corporations protected.

Yes there are the Worldcomm’s and Enrons of the US but at least the cases were prosecuted (Bernie Ebbers was sent to jail for 25 years. Lay was found guilty of the ten charges against him – he died before sentencing). Under a Fascist Regime this would almost certainly have not been the case. Did the Nazis prosecute IG Farben, Bayer, Siemens and Daimler Benz…no bloody way?

10. Power of labor suppressed or eliminated.

Are the Unions independent of the government in the US? Yes.Can they go on strike? Yes except under special circumstances.Could they do so in Nazi Germany? No way.

11. Disdain and suppression of intellectuals and the arts.

So Bernard Goldberg doesn’t like the Media Elite…(doesn’t this contradict point #6 of the author's analysis?). Intellectuals run for your life….Stop the Press.....Fascism is coming.....Funny thing is that Goldberg is extremely critical of Michael Savage..the other author shown. This is more of the cult of victimhood from Britt, based on my own survey at Chapters three out of the four books in the US politics section were very critical of the Bush Administration. I hardly think that intellectual ‘millionaires’such as Chomsky, Zinn and co. are suffering by any measure. Neither are the other arch-disciples of the movement for extended hypocrisy : Cornel West and Barbara Ehrenreich.

As for the Dixie Chicks…..Since when did they qualify as intellectuals.?

12. Obsession with crime and punishment.

Only point that I may agree with Britt on but to compare the US to the Nazis here is also ludicrous.

13. Rampant cronyism and corruption.

A problem everywhere…especially within the manifold of that giant Corporation of the Left: The State. Something the Right has been trying to downsize for some time now.Bush and co. have fallen short on this front.

14. Fraudulent elections.

Yes the Dems were bitter after 2000 (I was too – I supported Gore – who ran a dreadful campaign --- carried a smaller share of the states than Bush and couldn’t even win at home ie. Tennessee) but lets not forget that in Germany under the Nazis there were no elections.......period...end of story.

Overall this video Clip is a slap in the face to anyone with an above average intelligence. The fact that it was produced by an academic says more about a state of idiocracy that exists in on the net than anything else.

EPL at an end of 2006/2007

Today was the last game of the 2006/2007 season.
From my perspectives as a Liverpool fan here are some observations from the season.

1. Pool were almost invincible at Anfield - conceding seven goals. The Reds won 14, Drew 4 and lost 1 (the injustice against Man U after we played the Devils off the pitch).

2. The team finished third and will defintely play in the Champion's League next year.

3. Dirk Kuyt proved to be an excellent pickup - future 20 Goal scorer.

4. Beating Chelsea 2-0 was priceless...ditto Arsenal 4-1 and Spurs 3-0.

5. The team lost nine games on the road...including a 3-0 defeat to the Toffees. Sheffield United, who were relegated had fewer losses on the road.

6. Craig Bellamy has yet to deliver with earnest in the league ...although his performance at the Nou Camp was first-rate.

7. Daniel Agger appears to be emerging well as a defender.

8. The Reds tied United for the second best defensive record in the EPL --- and if they hadn't thrown away the last three games... who knows? .... maybe they would have tied Chelski for first place.

9. The midfield still lacks balance especially on the left wing.

10. Jermaine Pennant was dreadful during the first half of the season but came to life in the new year.

11. Sami Hyppia although still the best defensive header of the ball was shown wanting for speed in the back row... Next season may be the last for the Big Finn at Anfield.

12. Gerrard and Carragher were solid as usual...however Benitez playing Gerrard at Right Wing is a poor strategy.

13. Man U looked awesome and fully deserved the title...this is not a good sign at all.

14. No goals were scored against the Toffees this season....(another bad sign).

15. Did the Double over Watford, West Ham, Spurs, Reading and Wigan. Should have done the double over Fulham, Charlton, Man City, Sheffield U, Boro and Newcastle as well.

16. The Reds failed to Live up to expectations on a go forward basis finishing 21 points behind Man U.

17. Set Pieces are still a nightmare...especially defending them.

18. Still not sure why we need Javier Maschareno?

19. The Crowd on the Kop was very much a factor in Liverpool's success.

20. The Hicks and Gillette takeover...does this mean more cash in the bag...we will wait and see.

A Political cacophany of a joke

Courtesy of: http://www.amazingjokes.com/

Political Science for Dummies

DEMOCRATIC You have two cows. Your neighbor has none. You feel guilty for being successful.Barbara Streisand sings for you.

REPUBLICAN You have two cows. Your neighbor has none. So?

SOCIALIST You have two cows. The government takes one and gives it to your neighbor. You form a cooperative to tell him how to manage his cow.

COMMUNIST You have two cows. The government seizes both and provides you with milk. You wait in line for hours to get it.It is expensive and sour.

CAPITALISM, AMERICAN STYLE You have two cows. You sell one, buy a bull, and build a herd of cows.

BUREAUCRACY, AMERICAN STYLE You have two cows. Under the new farm program the government pays you to shoot one, milk the other, and then pours the milk down the drain.

AMERICAN CORPORATION You have two cows. You sell one, lease it back to yourself and do an IPO on the 2nd one. You force the two cows to produce the milk of four cows. You are surprised when one cow drops dead. You spin an announcement to the analysts stating you have downsized and are reducing expenses. Your stock goes up.

FRENCH CORPORATION You have two cows. You go on strike because you want three cows. You go to lunch and drink wine.Life is good. JAPANESE CORPORATION You have two cows. You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and produce twenty times the milk. They learn to travel on unbelievably crowded trains. Most are at the top of their class at cow school.

GERMAN CORPORATION You have two cows. You engineer them so they are all blond, drink lots of beer, give excellent quality milk, and run a hundred miles an hour. Unfortunately they also demand 13 weeks of vacation per year.

ITALIAN CORPORATION You have two cows but you don't know where they are. While ambling around, you see a beautiful woman. You break for lunch.Life is good.

BELGIAN CORPORATION You have one cow. The cow is schizophrenic.Sometimes the cow thinks he's French, other times he's Flemish. The Flemish cow won't share with the French cow. The French cow wants control of the Flemish cow's milk. The cow asks permission to be cut in half. The cow dies happy.
